Although you may borrow amounts as low as £1,000, they will attract a higher rate of interest. Lenders operate personal loan in three interest rate bands: £1,000 - £2,950, £3,000 - £4,950 and £5,000 - £25,000.
The lowest APRs quoted by lenders are available on the highest loan band. The exact amount that you pay will be based on your credit rating and may be higher than the quoted typical APR.
You may be able to take repayment holidays on your loan based on the lenders criteria.

An early repayment fee (also known as a redemption fee) if you pay back the loan before the end of the loan term. This can be as much as two months' interest, considerably adding to the cost of your loan
An arrangement fee for setting up your loan
Deferments and breaks – these can give you a break from paying the loan for a specified time. Any interest you would have paid in this time, is still payable and is added to your outstanding balance
